Concrete Hyperplasticizers – Capcocrete SRC4030

Capcocrete SRC4030 is a hyperplasticizer for concrete with the characteristic of retaining high flowability for up to 45 minutes. The slump retention property of this product is based on the chemical structure of poly-carboxylate resin used in it and it does not contain any retarders. Moreover, concrete produced with this superplasticizer does not compromise initial strengths.

This product is manufactured in accordance with the general requirements of the Iranian National Standard No.2930-1 and the performance requirements specified in Tables 1-3 and 2-3 of the Iranian National Standard No. 2930-1. Additionally, this additive complies with the requirements of ASTM C494 Grade F standard and Table 1 of EN 934-1 standard. It also conforms to the requirements of Tables 1-3 and 2-3 of EN 934-2 standard.

Range and Method of Using Additives in Concrete:

Permissible Range for Using Additives in Concrete:

The permissible range of using Capcocrete SRC4030 is from 0.3 to 1.5 percent by weight of cementitious materials (300 to 1500 grams per hundred kilograms of cementitious materials, including cement, silica fume, slag, fly ash, and other similar pozzolans). The optimal dosage of the additive should be determined based on the mix design specifications and the execution conditions, taking into account environmental factors. Ultimately, trial mixes should be prepared. Exceeding the declared permissible limit may result in consequences such as segregation and water bleeding in concrete. It is worth mentioning that reducing the dosage may lead to decreased workability retention of concrete over an extended period.

How to Mix Concrete Hyperplasticizers:

To use the additive, it is necessary to dilute it with water at twice the volume of the additive, and then add it to the concrete. Additionally, the following points should be considered:

  • After adding the additive, the concrete should be thoroughly mixed for 2 to 5 minutes to ensure complete blending, and uniform distribution of the additive in the concrete.
  • This additive should not come into direct contact with dry cement or dry aggregate materials.
  • The volume of water used to dilute the additive (before adding it to the concrete) should be subtracted from the total mixing water in the concrete.
  • If there is a desire to significantly increase the slump of fresh concrete, it is necessary for the concrete mix design to be prepared in such a way that the concrete does not experience segregation and water bleeding.

The effect of additives on fresh concrete:

  • At a constant water-to-cement ratio, it significantly increases flowability, and at a fixed flowability, it leads to a significant reduction in the water-to-cement ratio.
  • Increasing the workability duration of concrete.
  • At the specified dosage, it does not alter the initial setting time of the standard mortar by more than 30 minutes.
  • At the specified dosage, it does not alter the final setting time of the standard mortar by more than 60 minutes.
  • The air void content in fresh concrete is controlled in a manner that variations in the air content are within the allowable limits specified in the standards mentioned in this data sheet.

The effect of the additive on hardened concrete:

  • At an equal water-to-cement ratio and the same air void percentage, it moderately enhances the 7-day and 28-day strength of concrete.
  • Due to the increased ability of random air bubbles to escape in fresh concrete, it enhances the surface finish of the hardened concrete.
