Concrete Hyperplasticizers-CapcoCrete SPCA10

CapcoCrete SPCA10 is a hyperplasticizer, a very strong water reducer, and a quick-setting agent used to increase the flowability of concrete/mortar without changing the water-to-cement ratio or to reduce the water-to-cement ratio without decreasing flowability. This additive also reduces setting time and increases one-day compressive strength of hardened concrete.

This product is manufactured in accordance with the general requirements of the Iranian National Standard No.2930-1 and the performance requirements outlined in Tables 6, 1-3, and 2-3 of the Iranian National Standard No.2930-2. Additionally, this additive complies with Categories C and F of ASTM C494 standard and Table 1 of EN 934-1 standard, as well as the requirements specified in Tables 6, 1-3, and 2-3 of EN 934-2 standard.

Range and Method of Using Additives in Concrete:

Permissible Range for Using Additives in Concrete:

The permissible range for the use of CapcoCrete SPCA10 is from 0.25 to 0.8 percent by weight of cementitious materials (250 to 800 grams per hundred kilograms of cementitious materials, including cement, silica fume, slag, fly ash, and other similar pozzolans). The optimal dosage of the additive should be determined based on the mix design specifications, execution conditions, and environmental factors. Finally, experimental mixtures should be prepared to assess the performance. Exceeding the specified limit might lead to consequences such as segregation, bleeding, and an undesirable decrease in the concrete’s setting time, especially for concretes containing rapid-setting cements.

How to Mix Concrete Hyperplasticizers:

To use the additive, it is necessary to dilute it with water at twice the volume of the additive, and then add it to the concrete. Additionally, the following points should be considered:

  • After adding the additive, the concrete should be thoroughly mixed for 2 to 5 minutes to ensure complete blending, and uniform distribution of the additive in the concrete.
  • This additive should not come into direct contact with dry cement or dry aggregate materials.
  • The volume of water used to dilute the additive (before adding it to the concrete) should be subtracted from the total mixing water in the concrete.
  • If there is a desire to significantly increase the slump of fresh concrete, it is necessary for the concrete mix design to be prepared in such a way that the concrete does not experience segregation and water bleeding.
