Concrete Plasticizer – CapcoPlast PG06A

Capcoplast PG06A is a concrete plasticizer, water reducer, and accelerator used to increase the flowability of concrete/mortar without changing the water-to-cement ratio or to reduce the water-to-cement ratio without decreasing the flowability. This additive also reduces setting time and increases the one-day compressive strength of hardened concrete.

This product is produced according to the general requirements of the Iranian National Standard No. 2930-1 and the performance requirements of Table 12 in the Iranian National Standard No. 2930-2. Additionally, this additive complies with the requirements of ASTM C494 Grade E standard and Table 1 of EN 934-1 standard, as well as the requirements of Table 12 in the EN 934-2 standard.

The use of concrete plasticizers:
The permissible range for using concrete plasticizer:

The permissible range for using Capcoplast PG06A is from 1 to 2 percent by weight of cementitious materials (1000 to 2000 grams per hundred kilograms of cementitious materials, including cement, silica fume, slag, fly ash, and other similar Pozzolanic materials). For more information about this product, please refer to the concrete plasticizer page. The optimal dosage of the additive should be determined based on the mix design specifications, job site conditions, and climate. Ultimately, it should be established through the production of trial mixes. Exceeding the declared maximum limit may have consequences such as rapid setting, especially for concrete containing rapid-setting cements.

How to Mix Concrete Plasticizer:

To use the additive, it is necessary to dilute it with water in double the volume of the additive. Then, add it to the concrete when it has reached an initial slump of 5 to 8 centimeters. Additionally, the following points should be observed:

  • After adding the additive, the concrete should be thoroughly mixed for 2 to 5 minutes to ensure complete blending, and uniform distribution of the additive in the concrete.
  • This additive should not come into direct contact with dry cement or dry aggregate materials.
  • The volume of water used to dilute the additive (before adding it to the concrete) should be subtracted from the total mixing water in the concrete.
  • If there is a desire to significantly increase the slump of fresh concrete, the mix design must be formulated in a way that prevents segregation and excessive bleeding of the concrete.
