Concrete Superplasticizers – CapcoNorm PR12

CapcoNorm PR12 is a superplasticizer, a strong water reducer, and a retarder used to significantly increase the flowability of concrete/mortar, especially for concrete pouring in hot weather without changing the water-to-cement ratio or to reduce the water-to-cement ratio without reducing flowability. Additionally, this additive has the feature of maintaining slump over time.

This product is produced according to the general requirements of the Iranian National Standard number 2930-1 and the performance requirements specified in tables 1-11 and 2-11 of the Iranian National Standard number 2930-2. Additionally, this additive complies with the requirements of Grade G in ASTM C494 standard and table 1 of EN 934-1 standard, as well as the requirements specified in tables 1-11and 2-11 of EN 934-2 standard.

Range and Method of Using Additives in Concrete:

Permissible Range for Using Additives in Concrete:

The permissible range for the use of CapcoNorm PR12 is from 0.8 to 2.0 percent by weight of cementitious materials (800 to 2000 grams per hundred kilograms of cementitious materials, including cement, silica fume, slag, fly ash, and other similar pozzolanic materials). The optimal dosage of the additive should be determined based on the mix design specifications and the project’s execution conditions and climate. Exceeding the declared limit may result in consequences such as segregation, water bleeding, or an abrupt increase in the setting time of concrete, especially for concrete containing retarding agents.

How to Mix Concrete Superplasticizer:

To use the additive, it is necessary to dilute it with water in double the volume of the additive. Then, add it to the concrete when it has reached a low initial slump. Additionally, the following points should be observed:

  • After adding the additive, the concrete should be thoroughly mixed for 2 to 5 minutes to ensure complete blending, and uniform distribution of the additive in the concrete.
  • This additive should not come into direct contact with dry cement or dry aggregate materials.
  • The volume of water used to dilute the additive (before adding it to the concrete) should be subtracted from the total mixing water in the concrete.
  • If there is a desire to significantly increase the slump of fresh concrete, it is necessary for the concrete mix design to be prepared in such a way that the concrete does not experience segregation and water bleeding.
