Permissible Range for Using Additives in Concrete:
The permissible range for the use of CapcoNorm SPL545 is from 0.3% to 1.2% by weight of cementitious materials (300 to 1200 grams per hundred kilograms of cementitious materials including cement, silica fume, slag, fly ash, and other similar pozzolans). The optimal dosage of the additive should be determined based on the mixture design specifications, construction conditions, and environmental factors. Exceeding the declared permissible limit may result in consequences such as segregation, water bleeding, or an abrupt increase in the setting time of concrete, especially for concrete containing retarding cements.
How to Mix Concrete Superplasticizer:
To use the additive, it is necessary to dilute it with water in double the volume of the additive. Then, add it to the concrete when it has reached a low initial slump. Additionally, the following points should be observed:
- After adding the additive, the concrete should be thoroughly mixed for 2 to 5 minutes to ensure complete blending, and uniform distribution of the additive in the concrete.
- This additive should not come into direct contact with dry cement or dry aggregate materials.
- The volume of water used to dilute the additive (before adding it to the concrete) should be subtracted from the total mixing water in the concrete.
