Concrete Superplasticizers-Capconorm SPN215

CapcoNorm SPN 215 is a concrete superplasticizer and strong water reducer, commonly referred to as a superplasticizer. It is used to significantly increase the flowability of concrete/mortar without altering the water-to-cement ratio or to reduce the water-to-cement ratio without compromising flowability.

This product is manufactured in accordance with the general requirements of the Iranian National Standard No. 2930 -1 and the performance requirements specified in Tables 1-3 and 2-3 of the Iranian National Standard No. 2930-2. Additionally, this additive complies with Grade F requirements of ASTM C494 standard and Table 1 of EN 934-1 standard, as well as the requirements of Tables 3-1 and 3-2 in EN 934-2 standard.

Range and Method of Using Additives in Concrete:

Permissible Range for Using Additives in Concrete:

The permissible range of using the superplasticizer CapcoNorm SPN215 is from 0.5 to 1.5 percent by weight of cementitious materials (500 to 1500 grams per hundred kilograms of cementitious materials, including cement, silica fume, slag, fly ash, and other similar pozzolans). The determination of the optimal amount of the additive should be based on the specifications of the mix design and the operational and weather conditions, and ultimately, trial mixes should be made. Exceeding the declared permissible limit may have consequences such as segregation and bleeding.

How to Mix Concrete Superplasticizer:

To use the additive, it is necessary to dilute it with water in double the volume of the additive. Then, add it to the concrete when it has reached a low initial slump. Additionally, the following points should be observed:

After adding the additive, the concrete should be thoroughly mixed for 2 to 5 minutes to ensure complete blending, and uniform distribution of the additive in the concrete.
This additive should not come into direct contact with dry cement or dry aggregate materials.
The volume of water used to dilute the additive (before adding it to the concrete) should be subtracted from the total mixing water in the concrete.

Safety Precautions When Using Concrete Plasticizer:

• In case of contact with this additive in the eyes, the person should rinse the eyes with water for at least 15 minutes, keeping the eyelids open.
• In case of contact with this additive on the skin, promptly wash the contaminated skin with clean water for 15 minutes.
• Contaminated clothing should be washed with appropriate cleaning agents before reuse.
• If the affected person continues to experience discomfort, it is necessary to seek medical attention promptly.
