Pozzolanic Products-CapcoGel DR

Supplementary Materials Containing Silica Fume and Water-Reducing Admixture (CapcoGel DR)

CapcoGel DR is a supplementary material containing microsilica with strong pozzolanic properties, along with a powerful superplasticizer and water reducer. It is used to increase the flowability of concrete/mortar without changing the water-to-cement ratio or to decrease the water-to-cement ratio without reducing flowability. This product reacts with calcium hydroxide resulting from hydration due to its strong pozzolanic characteristics. The secondary products of this pozzolanic reaction reduce the permeability of concrete, enhancing its mechanical strength and abrasion resistance.

The microsilica present in this product complies with the general requirements of the Iranian National Standard No. 13278 and the specifications outlined in ASTM C1240 and EN 13263-1 standards. Additionally, this additive conforms to the requirements of ASTM C494 Grade G standard and Table 1 of EN 934-1 standard, as well as the requirements of Tables 1-11 and 2-11 of EN 934-2 standard.

Range and Method of Using CapcoGel DR in Concrete:

Permissible Range for Using CapcoGel DR in Concrete

The permissible range for using CapcoGel DR is from 8 to 18 percent of the weight of cementitious materials (8 to 18 kilograms per hundred kilograms of cementitious materials, including cement, silica fume, slag, fly ash, and other similar pozzolanic materials). The optimal amount of this additive should be determined based on the mix design specifications, operational conditions, and environmental factors. Exceeding the specified limit may result in consequences such as segregation, water bleeding, and an abrupt increase in the setting time of concrete, especially for concrete containing retarder cements. If reactive silica aggregates are present in the concrete, the minimum amount of the additive should be determined in the laboratory.

How to Mix CapcoGel DR with concrete:

CapcoGel DR should be added to the concrete mix at the batching plant and during the mixing of concrete components. Additionally, the following points should be observed:

  • After adding the additive, the concrete should be thoroughly mixed for 2 to 5 minutes, ensuring uniform distribution of the additive throughout the concrete.
  • This additive should not come into direct contact with dry cement or dry aggregates.
  • 55% of the weight of this additive should be subtracted from the mixing water used for the concrete.
