Pozzolanic Products-CapcoGel D

Supplementary Materials Containing Silica Fume and Water-Reducing Admixture (CapcoGel D)

Capcogel D is a supplementary material containing microsilica with strong pozzolanic properties, along with a powerful superplasticizer and water reducer. It is used to increase the fluidity of concrete/mortar without changing the water-to-cement ratio or to reduce the water-to-cement ratio without decreasing fluidity. This product, with its strong pozzolanic properties, reacts with calcium hydroxide resulting from hydration. The secondary products of this pozzolanic reaction reduce the permeability of concrete and enhance its mechanical strength and abrasion resistance.

The microsilica present in this product complies with the general requirements of the national standard of Iran numbered 13278, as well as the specifications mentioned in ASTM C1240 and EN 13263-1 standards. Additionally, the superplasticizer in this product also meets the performance requirements outlined in Tables 1-3 and 2-3 of the national standard of Iran numbered 2930-2, the Grade F requirements of ASTM C494, and Tables 1-3 and 2-3of EN 934-2 standard.

The use of HyperGel:
Range and Method of Using HyperGel in Concrete:

Permissible Range for Using HyperGel in Concrete:

The allowable range for the use of microsilica gel or CapcoGel D is from 8 to 18 percent by weight of cementitious materials (8 to 18 kilograms per hundred kilograms of cementitious materials, including cement, silica fume, slag, fly ash, and other similar pozzolans). The optimal dosage of this additive should be determined based on the specifications of the mix design, environmental conditions, and actual execution, considering the creation of experimental mixtures. Exceeding the specified limit may result in issues such as segregation, bleeding, and an immediate increase in concrete setting time, especially for concrete containing retarder cements. If reactive silica aggregates are present in the concrete, the minimum required dosage of the additive must be determined in the laboratory.

How to Mix HyperGel with concrete:

Hypergel should be added to the concrete mix at the batching plant and during the mixing of concrete components. Additionally, the following points should be observed:

  • After adding the additive, the concrete should be thoroughly mixed for 2 to 5 minutes, ensuring uniform distribution of the additive throughout the concrete.
  • This additive should not come into direct contact with dry cement or dry aggregates.
  • 55% of the weight of this additive should be subtracted from the mixing water used for the concrete.
